I love AC/DC but I am over the stadium shows (and the ridiculous prices for tickets).

I first saw them in 1982 and most recently in 2015. The setlist was not much different, and apart from the size and scale of it (and their ages), the show and performance was pretty much the same.

I'd really like to see them in a theatre again. That would be worth paying for.

Still, they seem to be able to sell these huge shows at these prices, so good luck to them.

Not sure why people are commenting on the 'music'? Clearly as a bunch of mostly 50+blokes on here, this is not aimed at us. It's a product aimed at a very different demographic.

Much like K-Pop. It's nether good nor bad. It's just a product for a totally different consumer.

With concert tickets being so expensive these days .... I BAULKED at £300 for an on-pitch Wembley ticket for AC/DC in July (£340 if you wanted to be close to the stage) am not sure why more acts dont release concert films for the cinema and streaming

Read that she financed her concert film herself and is taking half of the $260m gross takings so far.
Plus Disney gave her $75m to stream it on their channel/s

The Ginger Minger is damn average but you have to admire her PR Team as she seeks to be everywhere in the media. Good to promote her Eras tour.

I could name one of her songs so I went on YouTube . Seemed like real middle of the road generic, rubbish .So tried another . Hang on wasn’t that the last song ? On no different title . 3rd song… cut and paste above .

Re: Taylor Swift
Don't know if she is still in the climate activist camp or nor but it would be pretty disingenuous if Ms. Swift was calling for the mere mortals to cut back on their carbon emissions while she is consuming energy at an astonishing level.
Joe Royal said she has up to 120 trucks on this tour.
They're not running on willpower.
She's jetting all over the world.
I'd imagine her stage uses slightly more than four candles.
On top of that the fans are using a huge amount of energy to attend the concerts.

There is quite a lot of energy being used for what is essentially a very unimportant activity.

Meanwhile food producers (farmers) are being demonised for their activities & are being forced to cut back production.
The truck drivers are also being vilified for transporting food to stores.

Swift gets a pass because she purchased some 'carbon credits' & gets to belt out her banal tunes as loudly & brilliantly as the local energy supplier can endure.

Re: Taylor Swift
I thought a lot of the fuss about her recently was all about how she'd gone against all that carbon zero shit, to get back home on private jets to watch her bloke play American football?

More power to her elbow if that's the case, irrespective of my not knowing a single song by her, ( although I'd probably recognise it on the radio) or giving a sht about American football.

Go Taylor!! As swiftly as your flights will take you.

Sign of the times that someone with a limited amount of talent can be such a global superstar. In 4 years time she'll either be forgotten about or running for president.

Great big wiki page about the agenda...

Also, try Googling "Taylor Swift right wing" or "Taylor Swift left wing"

It’s seems to have ramped up with the Kelcd stuff, that’s when it started showing up for me creeping into a few sports things about wives paying attention to American football now.

Have to be weird to see some kind of agenda going on though, she generates clicks and posts so you see more and more of her. The fact you’ve posted about her on the internet or gone and looked up some songs is probably going to mean you’ll see more of her showing up for you now.

The Eras Tour film has broken all sorts of box office records so far and is a rare thing as she produced it herself and negotiated her own distribution deal bypassing the stodious completely.
Not a fan of her music but she is extremely savvy when it comes to business.

Daughter had her on the car when she was going to college earlier this evening.
It's pretty bland, emotionless & insipid fare.

If she was an ice-cream she'd be vanilla.

There was always this teeny-bopper type artist that appealed to young girls.
There was the NKOTB, Take That, Westlife, NSync, Spice Girls, Britney etc, etc.

The OP question was why is Taylor being pumped by the media more than her predecessors?

It's because she is the ultimate establishment icon.
She doesn't offend those in power & won't cause discord.
Swift will follow the script.

I heard a female radio presenter say that Taylor Swift was the sort of woman who would wear a swimsuit when showering.

That's how 'safe' she is.

Let’s face it - there were a bunch of middle-aged old farts in the 60s muttering about the stones and Beatles as well.

We’re not really the target demographic for this are we.

The current tour has supposedly generated $5bn and counting.

She started attracting flak from the American right. Not sure what for - haven't been paying attention. For the American left, their enemy's enemy is their friend. So now she is being deified.
